After a triumphant show at Coachella, Animal Collective have announced a string of Summer tour dates, where the band will be playing new material. The trek kicks off July 7 in Orlando, FL, and wraps up on July 15 in Chicago. The band will also be playing a hometown gig on July 9 at Columbia, MD’s, Merriweather Post Pavilion, the venue they named their 2009 album after.

The Offspring are deep into recording their first album since 2008’s Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace and have already laid down roughly a dozen songs for the set. “It’s going to be the best damn record we ever did,” said singer Dexter Holland. [NME]

Washed Out, the buzzy, one-man “glo-fi” outfit from Ernest Greene, has signed a record deal with Sub Pop to release his debut full-length album. Within and Without, which was recorded by Animal Collective and Gnarls Barkley producer Ben Allen, will hit stores on July 12, and a string of summer tour dates will be announced soon. [Sub Pop]

Fountains of Wayne will return with a new album on August 2 titled Sky Full of Holes, which will be released on indie label Yep Roc. It’s the New Jersey power-poppers’ first album since 2007’s Traffic and Weather.
