South by Southwest is an annual proving ground for budding bands pining to break out of obscurity. But while Duran Duran are certainly anything but obscure, the chart-topping British pop band embraced the start-up attitude for their trip to Austin this year.

“We started off very low key with this project,” drummer Roger Taylor told us in the SPIN Shed, talking about All You Need Is Now, which hit stores this week. “It’s very organic with the way it’s happening … it’s almost like a new band again, which is really exciting.”

Watch more of the interview, and check out footage of the band’s SXSW showcase at Stubb’s, too!

You can also catch Duran Duran’s live webcast concert March 23 on Vevo from L.A.’s Mayan Theater, as part of American Express’ Unstaged series. Even more special: David Lynch is directing. Get details here.
