  • Queens of the Stone Age are working on a new album, and leader Josh Homme says their progress was inspired by revisiting their back catalogue for an upcoming retrospective tour. “We started trying to play the first record note-perfect,” he said. “It just took me back for a second where I had a chance to remember where I was when I first started doing this.” He said QOTSA’s new songs are “very simple and repetitive,” and have “a very sort of bluesy, trance-like quality.” [Exclaim]

  • Ex-Oasis singer and current Beady Eye frontman Liam Gallagher is blaming the Britpop kings’ August 2009 split on his brother, Noel, who told the press he received no support from the band. “I just look at him now and think, ‘You’re a fucking fake,'” says Liam. “It’s like, if you want to fucking leave the band, leave the band. If you want to stay at home with your kids, stay at home with your kids. If you wanna have five years off, have five years off. We’ll sit down as a band and talk about it.   • Kanye West is expected to join Rihanna during her halftime performance this Sunday at the NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles. They are rumored to perform “All of the Lights,” from ‘Ye’s latest LP, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, SPIN’s 2010 Album of the Year Lenny Kravitz, Josh Groban, and Melanic Fiona are also expected to perform during the game, which will be televised at 7:00 PM EST on TNT.
