Ting Tings Remix Dylan, Rare Johnny Cash + More

  • British synth-pop duo the Ting Tings have remixed Bob Dylan‘s legendary 1965 single “Subterranean Homesick Blues.” The remix is part of Sony’s Make.Believe project, which allows fans to create their own versions of the song using parts of the original Dylan recording. [Sony’s Facebook Page]

  • Legacy Recordings will release a collection of unreleased demos and outtakes by Johnny Cash on February 22. The two-CD set, titled Bootlegs 2: From Memphis to Hollywood, will also feature a radio broadcast hosted by Cash, plus non-album singles and B-sides. [Vintage Vinyl News]

  • Actress T.V. Carpio will replace Natalie Mendoza in the role of Arachne for U2‘s Spider-Man musical. Mendoza left the troubled production last week, a month after sustaining a concussion. The show officially opens on February 7 after a run of preview performances. [Hollywood Reporter]

  • Jack White has announced the first slate of 2011 releases for his label Third Man Records. On the docket: a reissue of the White Stripes‘ limited-edition single for Sub Pop records, which features a cover of Captain Beefheart‘s “China Pig,” plus a double-LP compilation featuring tracks by Wanda Jackson and Conan O’Brien.   • Wacka Flocka Flame turned himself in yesterday to Henry County, Georgia authorities for gun, drug and gang-related charges stemming from a police raid on his home last month, where authorities discovered contraband while the rapper wasn’t at home. Flame’s mother says of his decision to surrender, “He wanted to do the right thing and didn’t want to run.” [TMZ]
