Iconic metal frontman Ronnie James Dio will be honored in a public memorial service Sunday, May 30, in Los Angeles. The singer, known for his time fronting the post-Ozzy Osbourne version of Black Sabbath and for his own solo career, passed away last weekend from complications of stomach cancer. He was 67.

The memorial will begin at 2:00 P.M. at the Hall of Liberty, on the edge of L.A.’s Griffith Park (6300 Forest Lawn Drive).

“This will be a celebration of the life and music of Ronnie James Dio and is open to all of his friends and fans from around the world,” read a post on Dio’s official website. Dio’s widow, Wendy, has asked that fans wishing to honor her husband make a donation to the Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund, care of Niji Entertainment Group, 12400 Ventura Blvd. #624, Studio City, CA 91604.

A post on Dio’s official Facebook fan page, which has become the Internet’s busiest location for Dio fans since his death, suggests a few hotels in the Burbank area that are offering special rates for fans attending the memorial. There’s more info here.
