Terrific Twitter Trio of the Week: ‘Glee’ Edition!

Lots of people tweet – but all that Twitters is not gold.

That’s why you’ll want to check out SPIN.com every Friday to see whose tweets we’re reading this week – then update your TweetDeck! (Obligatory Self-Promotion: …while you’re at it, be sure to follow @SPINmagazine!)

This week’s winners are all cast members on last year’s breakout comedy, Glee. The show returns for its second season next Tuesday, April 13, at 9:30 p.m. on Fox.

Be sure to check out our video interviews with Agron and other cast members here.

  • Dianna Agron
    @alittlelamb

    Why You Should Follow: On Glee, she plays Quinn Fabray, the bitchiest of cheerleaders and pregnant president of the school’s Celibacy Club. But in real life, Dianna Agron listens to indie rock, quotes Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and fills blog posts with whimsical drawings, old black-and-white photographs, and declarations of love for Jason Schwartzman. Expect lots of tweets about the art of Polaroid picture-taking, as well as artsy shots of her fellow Glee cast members, like this photo of Matthew Morrison playing piano and this one of Jenna Ushkowitz looking “Clockwork Orange fabulous.” Bonus points: She often re-tweets and answers questions from fans!

    Best Tweet of the Week: “Just when things couldn’t get crazier…we met Obama & family, including Beau. They couldn’t have been more charming or kind. Surreal.”

  • Chris Colfer
    @chriscolfer

    Why You Should Follow: Colfer plays one of the show’s funniest characters, the dapper, diva-esque counter tenor Kurt Hummel. On Twitter, he’s just as hilarious, posting updates about all of the ridiculous things that happen to him throughout the day (“I’m pretty sure I just used a fake bathoom at Paramount. Oops”) and sharing his random thoughts with the world (“A red carpet and press line at a funeral has to be the tackiest thing in the world and I want one at mine someday”). Whether he’s reenacting Pink’s Grammys performance “with a blanket and duct tape,” trying to rid his electronic devices of poltergeists, or imagining what superpowers the characters of Glee would have (“Finn-Stretching, Rachel-Force-fields, Kurt-Flying, Tina-Invisibility, Artie-Speed, Mercedes-Strength…”), Colfer brings a healthy dose of fun to Twitter. Bonus points: He often teases fans with hints at future episodes of Glee (“There are no words to decribe Kurt’s outfit today. It took four fittings to create it and may be the next wonder of the world. You’ll see”).

    Best Tweet of the Week: “In nightmares I always make sure I have my keys, cell phone, wallet, glasses, and possible luggage before running away from monsters.”

  • Cory Monteith
    @frankenteen

    Why You Should Follow: Monteith – who plays simple-minded but well-meaning football star Finn Hudson on Glee – has some of the best Twitpics around, like this one, taken when he met the Obamas (and Sarah Palin) outside of a 10 Minute Manicure shop, and this one of costar Heather Morris “shaving the ‘stache.” When he’s not posting brilliant iPhone pictures, he’s encouraging discussion amongst his fans (“I’m curious: name a few bands you hate… except for that one song of theirs you love…?”), hanging out with his pet cactus, Hank, and hula-hooping in the Paramount parking lot. Follow him as he goes on spontaneous trips to Mexico, live-tweets Canadian hockey games (he’s from Vancouver), and rubs shoulders with people like Oprah and Sir Elton John!

    Best Tweet of the Week: “just had sushi in Chicago, it was the bomb diggy… but eating raw fish this far from an ocean really should concern me #tastysalmonella”
