Tom Morello Guests on New Cypress Hill Jam

What looks like Rage Against the Machine, sounds like Rage Against the Machine, and might be as close as Rage Against the Machine fans get to a full-blown reunion track? The brand new collaboration between on-the-comeback-trail rap group Cypress Hill and RATM axe man Tom Morello, “Rise Up.” Watch the video below!

With visuals of stormtroopers marching, flags waving, and children wearing gas masks, all done up in various shades of red, white, and black, plus Morello’s all-too-familiar chugga-chugga riffage/turntable mimicking, the only thing missing from this video is Zack de la Rocha. Instead, it’s B-Real and Sen Dog dropping a semi-political rant on the title track from their first album in six years.

B-Real says they reached out to the Rage guitarist midway through the recording process for Rise Up. “We thought we should try collaborating with Tom Morello, which was a natural fit,” he tells Spinner, who premiered the video. “We reached out and he gave us two great tracks.”

Other rockers guesting on Rise Up (out 4/20 — insert joke here) include System of a Down’s Daron Malakian and Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda.

Watch “Rise Up” here — does it satiate your urge for new Rage Against the Machine recordings? Sound off below.
