‘Green Day: Rock Band’ Game Coming Soon

Unless you’re this lucky Seattle fan, chances are you never have and never will rock out with Green Day onstage. But now you can do the next best thing: Pretend!

Following the Beatles, who scored the first Rock Band game branded to one group last September, the Bay Area punks will have their own special edition game for Xbox 360, PlayStation, and Wii. Green Day: Rock Band drops on a yet-to-be-announced date in 2010.

“We’ve worked with the ‘Rock Band’ team in the past year to enable our fans to play tracks from 21st Century Breakdown, and we’re excited to now be working on a game spanning our entire career,” said Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong. “We want people to fire this up, choose their favorite Green Day tracks and play along with us as ‘Rock Band’ avatars so they can feel what it’s like to perform on stage as Green Day.”

Green Day: Rock Band will give players a glimpse inside the history of the band, allowing gamers to rock out in specific venues to monumental moments from the band’s three-decade career. No word just yet what those are, but we’re guessing a few of these will be included.

A tracklist for the game has yet-to-be-revealed, but all songs will be fully exportable to allow gamers to play each track in Rock Band and Rock Band 2 for XBox and PlayStation.

“Green Day’s music and explosive live performances transcend age barriers,” said Tom Whalley, Chairman/CEO of the group’s label, Warner Bros. Records [via MTV]. “This game will appeal to fans of all ages, including those who love their recent bestselling albums and those who’ve loved Green Day throughout their long, incredible career.”

Can’t wait to rock out with Green Day? You’re in luck: Tuesday, Dec. 15, the band will release three more 21st Century Breakdown tracks to the Rock Band music store — “Christian’s Inferno,” “Last of the American Girls,” and “¿Viva La Gloria? (Little Girl).”
