After 26 years behind and in front of the camera, EERIE VON is releasing his long-awaited book "Misery Obscura," a photographic record of his life (published by Dark Horse Books). Von began his career as the unofficial photographer for punk legends the Misfits, and later played bass as a founding member of underground pioneers Samhain and metal gods Danzig.

"Glenn said, 'Make sure you shoot us during the first 3 songs, cause after that we get all messed up.' I wanted that sweat, that emotion, that intensity. This is a personal favorite, from that show, at my favorite venue. First song, looking good, ready to rip the place apart."

3.Chuck Biscuits, 1994

3/11

"The Great Chuck Biscuits. This photo reminds me how absurd things could get on the road. I always had my camera with me, and Chuck was always willing to let me shoot him. I think this was from 'Win a Date with Chuck Biscuits' where he showed up to take some lucky girl to the prom."

4.Samhain, Lodi, NJ -- 1985

4/11

"I was always working on new ways to shoot the band, and here I wanted to try out some kool lighting. Only problem was, our drummer had just quit, so there were only the three of us. That's Damian, Glenn, and me. Camera on a tripod, with a timer. Here Glenn lets me shoot him with his hair combed back. We never used the four shots I got that day."

5.Misfits, 1981

5/11

"Here it is, the trademark Devilocks, make up, and the spooky stares that have become the blueprint for all Horror Rock bands, from then on. How could you miss with these guys? I just had to show up, focus, and shoot."

6.Jerry Only, The East Side Club, Philadelphia -- 1981

6/11

"Another personal favorite. This one comes right out of my portfolio from Photography School. It captures Jerry at his best, doing what he loves, knocking them dead, on stage. I had to learn how the band moved in order to really get the right vibe."

7.First Danzig Recording session, 1987

7/11

"I had to get a shot of us, at what I figured was an historic moment. It was hard to get these guys to sit still, but between takes for our first Danzig album, I got just this one shot. Nobody knew that Rick Rubin would become our generation's Phil Spector, or that George Drakolius (on the Phone) would go on to be a successful producer, as well. Who knew people would still be talking about any of us 20 years later."

8.Glenn Danzig, Graceland -- 1984

8/11

"On our first trip to Memphis with Samhain, Glenn and I had to stop and see Elvis. It didn't take much for me to get Glenn to pose at the King's grave. I'm really glad I got this one. Makes me remember things about the way it was back then."

9.Kirk Hammet, 1988

9/11

"I had just come off stage at the Hammersmith Odeon in England on that first Tour with Metallica. This was one of the last shows, and I really wanted to shoot those guys. I had to fight my way through the crowd, and managed to squeeze off a few shots, before returning to the safety of the dressing room. Here Kirk tears it up on that Jackson guitar."

10.Glenn Danzig In the Studio, 1991

10/11

"I'm a musician and a photographer, and I always loved those old studio photos from the 50's of Elvis at the piano. When we were between takes, I'd pick up the camera and try to capture some of the moments, I hoped would last forever. Here's one that lasts for me."

11.John Christ and Glenn Danzig, 1991

11/11

"It gets awful quiet sometimes, when you're a hard working band trying to conjure up them "Old Devil Blues."Just a guy at a piano, and his guitar player, working up a song, maybe "Godless" or "Sistinas"maybe some 12 Bar just for kicks. Awesome.
