We’re really digging Over and Over, the part twee, part noise pop album from Swedish indie-pop act the Legends (out June 16 on Labrador). In fact, this exclusive video for “Always the Same” is our early favorite for summertime anthem of 2009. But while the song might be a perfect sonic fit for steamy afternoons, there’s a dark underbelly to the shimmering, fuzz-pedal-laden song and clip, according to Johan Angergård, the main man behind the Legends.
“‘Always the Same’ is a song about summer loathing,” he tells SPIN.com. “The sun shines, the people are happy, and you just feel that there’s nowhere to hide. Those evil beams of light will cut through everything and reveal how bad everything is. I wanted the video to reflect this.”
