Def Leppard, Cheap Trick Tour: “Bigger, Faster, Louder!”

’80s rock titans Def Leppard, Cheap Trick, and Poison have announced a triple-icious U.S. tour for this summer — and according to Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen, it’s going to be “bigger, faster, louder, and more extensive” than ever!

The four-month, 40-date jaunt kicks off June 23 in Camden, NJ, and ends Sept. 7 in San Bernadino, CA.

What can you expect? In a word: fun. “Cheap Trick are a total fun band — you know all the songs, you’re going to sing along,” says Collen. “Poison is the same deal. There’s a total fun element to what they do. Fun is what’s needed right now.”

But don’t expect ’80s-style fun — at least not from Collen: “I stopped drinking 21 years ago, and I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life.”

While Collen adds that there’s no lingering beef between Def Lep and Poison from their hair-metal days (the bands traded nasty words in the ’80s), there will be a little rivalry in one category: best hair. “I think it will be a tight contest between [Def Lep bassist] Rick Savage and [Poison guitarist] C.C. DeVille,” Collen says.
