Decemberists to Perform Entire New Album on Spring Tour

Touring large theaters for 16 dates in May and June, Colin Meloy will lead his merry band the Decemberists through all 17 songs from their March release, The Hazards of Love, which tells the story of two star-crossed lovers and their interactions with a variety of fairy tale creatures. Joining the band onstage to perform the female parts of this indie rock opera will be Lavender Diamond’s Becky Stark and My Brightest Diamond’s Shara Worden.

We can now add the Decemberists to the list of bands — Jimmy Eat World, Built to Spill, Ben Kweller, to name a few — that have built out live shows and tours to perform just one complete album. In the Decemberists’ case, though, it won’t be a classic entry in their discography, but their latest.

The band will debut their Hazards performance at March’s South by Southwest conference in Austin, Texas, and will wind down this newly announced string of dates with a headlining gig at NYC’s Radio City Music Hall and an appearance at Tennessee’s Bonnaroo festival.

A limited number of tickets are onsale now via musictoday.com, and all tickets will go onsale this Friday, Feb. 13.
