New Video: Spoon’s Britt Daniel Covers Wire

There’s no shortage of covers today on SPIN.com, with ScarJo’s take on Jeff Buckley’s “Last Goodbye” and TV on the Radio’s rendition of Bowie’s “Heroes.” But this one is a bit more impromptu: video of Spoon’s Britt Daniel singing Wire’s riotous 1977 punk tune “1 2 X U” live in New York City.

The footage was captured at a release party for SPIN contributor Brian Rafferty’s new book, Don’t Stop Believin’: How Karaoke Conquered the World and Changed My Life, which appropriately featured a karaoke band. Towards the end of the festivities, punk indebted rocker Daniel took the stage and sang a surprisingly awesome rendition of the tune with the three-piece band behind him.
