Modest Mouse will hit the road this February on a 12-date U.S. tour — and they’ll be bringing frontman Isaac Brock’s latest musical discovery, Mimicking Birds, along for the ride!

Brock, a former Sub Pop A&R man who discovered and signed Wolf Parade, recently inked Portland, OR, folkies Mimicking Birds to his record label, Glacial Pace. The two bands begin their tour February 22 in Oakland, CA, and hit cities along the West Coast and across the Midwest and Southern U.S. before closing at Miami, FL’s Langerado Festival March 8. Guitarist Johnny Marr, who is currently busy recording with Brit punks the Cribs, will be replaced by Jim Fairchild of late, great indie-rock outfit Grandaddy. Marr, a Modest Mouse spokesperson confirms, is still in the band.

Mimicking Birds is headed by Nate Lacy, whose acoustic sound is similar to fellow Northwesterners Fleet Foxes. Lacy and his band — guitarist Tim Skellenger and drummer Aaron Hanson — are currently recording their Glacial Pace debut, expected to drop this spring. Until then, feast your ears on two new tracks off the upcoming album, “Burning Stars” and “The Loop.”
