Alkaline Trio and Anberlin Fight Suicide

Here at SPIN.com, the only thing we support more than awesome concerts is our favorite musicians pitching in for a good cause. In a true chocolate and peanut butter moment, goth-emo mainstays Alkaline Trio and SPIN.com Book Club participants Anberlin are combining both!

The two bands, joined by newcomers Single File, will head out on the cross-country ‘Pick Up The Phone’ college tour this spring to raise awareness of depression and suicide prevention. With support from the non-profit suicide prevention organizations 1-800-Suicide, The National Hopeline Network, and To Write Love On Her Arms, as well as social networking site Synclive.com and the anonymous secret-posting website Postsecret.com, the tour will begin in April.

Both bands expressed their enthusiasm for the cause: “We are especially excited about being a part of this whole tour and the cause it’s supporting,” said Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba. Anberlin lead singer Stephen Christian added, “We’re extremely excited to be on this upcoming tour because it brings together two of our favorite things: great music — such as Alkaline Trio — but also a helping hand to those in need and serving a purpose greater than the typical tour.”
