New Takka Takka Video: “Silence”

Talk about a body of war. In this clip for “Silence,” a track off Brooklyn, NY indie rock outfit Takka Takka‘s just-released album, Migration, toy cowboys, Indians, Roman soldiers, and more wage war against each other on a peculiar, fleshy, and contoured battlefield: an unidentified human body. Ouch!

Toy animals nervously scurry up arms, torsos, legs, backs, and faces seeking solace from the, ahem, bloody in-fighting that rages across the pink-hued landscape. A moment of subtle humor is provided as a seabird paints the cover of Takka Takka’s new album, Migration, using his beak, but the band’s hauntingly hypnotic use of sparse guitar licks and dense atmospherics — partially provided in guest collaborations from the National‘s Bryan Devendorf and Clap Your Hand Say Yeah‘s Lee Sargent — only serve to emphasize the images’ battle-fraught nature. Migration is out now on Ernest Jenning Record Co.
