Deerhunter Plots Fall Tour

Who? Atlanta’s fuzzed out experimental shoegazers Deerhunter, fronted by blogger/solo artist Bradford Cox. Having built a following with the critically acclaimed Cryptograms, it was then announced that the band would go on indefinite hiatus. Apparently sitting still for long was not in the cards and following Cox’s Atlas Sound release, the group will return Oct. 28 with the release of Microcastle.

What? After spending the summer opening dates for the Smashing Pumpkins and Nine Inch Nails, Deerhunter’s own outing will get started with a Halloween gig at Atlanta’s Variety Playhouse. From there, the jaunt will take the boys to Canada and through the Midwest before a trio of California dates. Moving back through the Southwest, the first days of December will see Deerhunter at Austin’s famous Emo’s and in the Big Easy Dec. 5 before wrapping up the next day in Alabama.

Should I Go? Yes. Whether Deerhunter assume their droney shoegaze persona or opt for their tighter more guitar-based incarnation, their live show is hypnotizing and unpredictable. And vocalist Bradford Cox has been known to rock a floral dress on stage, get up close and personal with his band members, and even field interview questions from the audience.
