Death Cab for Cutie Plan Short Fall Tour

Who? Seattle, WA’s soft-touch heroes Death Cab for Cutie, led by hush-voiced singer/songwriter Ben Gibbard. With a banner year thus far, the quartet’s latest, Narrow Stairs, was met with both widespread critical praise and commercial success, topping the Billboard charts on the week of its release.

What? A one-week, eight-date outing starting with a gig in Boston, MA Oct. 3, roughly one month after Gibbard and co. play their first hometown show in two years this Memorial Day weekend at Seattle’s Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival. After a couple sets on the East Coast, DCFC will head over to Columbus, OH Oct. 8, then hit Wisconsin and Illinois before closing out the all-too-short outing Oct. 13 in St. Louis, MO.

Should I Go? Yes, if you can. Narrow Stairs is unquestionably the band’s fiercest release in years, and its explosive dynamics seem to be tailor-made for the large venues booked for this tour. Unfortunately, if you don’t reside near any of the cities the band’s set to hit, you’re out of luck for now — cross your fingers that more tour dates are added between now and October!
