Hot Chip Announce Fall Tour

Who? Brit sing-along-spurring electro-nerds Hot Chip, captained by bespectacled frontman Alexis Taylor, and featuring his crew of funky multi-instrumentalists Felix Martin, Al Doyle, Owen Clarke, and Joe Goddard.

What? A 15-date nationwide tour, the quintet’s second in support of their Spin-praised set Made in the Dark. Kicking off with a two-night stand at Los Angeles’ Wiltern, the outing, also featuring back-to-back gigs in Chicago and New York, will then hit Tucson, Dallas, and Austin, as well as cities up and down the East Coast from Toronto to Atlanta.

Should I go? Yes. With tunes from 2005’s laid-back, soulful debut Coming on Strong and 2006’s melodic, robo-dance opus The Warning, Hot Chip always put on a show worth catching, igniting arms-flailing-in-the-air, audience-wide dance-alongs. And Made in the Dark — which, as a statement confirms, was written to be performed live — is the outfit’s best yet, its odd fusion of dance-pop balladry and bedroom blips and blops delivering an overbearing desire to shimmy down.
