Breeders, Liars, Hold Steady for Brooklyn’s Pool Parties

A stellar lineup, also including Black Lips and Deerhunter, prep for this summer's McCarren Park Pool Parties, the final season of shows before the pool is refilled.

New York City’s “free” factor is booming in the summer of ’08, and Brooklyn’s McCarren Park Pool Parties are leading the charge, offering the Big Apple’s music fans an unparalleled set of gratis gigs:

The Breeders, MGMT, the Hold Steady, Liars, Aesop Rock, Black Lips, Deerhunter, Fuck Buttons, Matt & Kim, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Team Robespierre, the Loved Ones, Panther, King Khan and His Shrines, the Ting Tings, and more will fill the vast, water-less concrete confines of the McCarren Park Pool one last time this summer, treating fans to free gigs on selects Sundays, before the waters return and fill the pool in summer ’09. Exact dates and more performers will be announced soon.

What else is on tap, you ask? Well, according to an exclusive statement from the parties’ presenter, JellyNYC, the summer season will be closed out with “a huge finale show that is a tribute to NYC artists,” plus, for your enjoyment, “a brand new slip’n’slide” and a “surprise sport event.”
