Voting is now open for the Hot Pursuit, a new band search presented by Spin magazine, Hennessy, and Music Nation. This year’s judges include songwriter Butch Walker, Peter Bjorn & John’s Peter Moren, the Dresden Dolls’ Amanda Palmer, comedian Michael Showalter, and Spin editor Doug Brod. The winner of the Hot Pursuit will earn a record deal with Original Signal/Epic Records, a brand-new Gibson SG guitar and bass, national press coverage in Spin, and a slot to perform at Spin‘s Year in Music party.

You can head over to the Hot Pursuit site, check out some of the bands, and cast your vote for whomever rocks the most. Or, you can enter your band to win!

Here are a few new bands on our radar already:

— Dallas, TX’s Smile Smile sweetly betray their namesake with elegant instrumentation and sorrow-tinged melodies on “Hope Avenue”, courtesy of Ryan Hamilton (vocals/guitar) and Jencey Hirunrusme (vocals/piano). Visit their Hot Pursuit page >>

— The feisty foursome of Montgomery Center, VT’s Creature dance this mess around with deliciously snotty vocals, four-to-the-floor percussion, and a disco-tastic chorus on “Bardot.” Visit their Hot Pursuit page >>

— If radio-ready guitars and boyish pop-punk sincerity is more your style, don’t miss Buffalo, NY’s The Hello Approach and their propulsive “What Goes Around Comes Around.” Visit their Hot Pursuit page >>
