Clinic

What? With a wide-eyed, psych-rock sound drawing from Motown to art-punk and beyond, surgical mask-sporting quartet Clinic have beaten a peculiar path, and return this week after a two year absence with fifth album Do It!. The 11-track collection arrives with the expected components — distorted, reverb-drenched guitars, keys aplenty, and frontman Ade Blackburn’s haunting murmur – yet now coalesces in fresh structures mashing sonic spazz-outs and lulling cool downs in one. Featuring Jacquire King (Tom Waits, Kings of Leon) on the mixing boards, the new album is Clinic’s unique, vintage styling at its best.

Who? Liverpool’s Clinic, fronted by Ade Blackburn and featuring lead guitarist Hartley, bassist Brian Campbell, and Carl Turney on drums. All members swap flute and keyboard duties.

Fun Fact: More of a friendly notice: Catch Clinic on tour in North America this spring behind the release of Do It!. Check out the complete itinerary at the band’s MySpace page.
