Portishead Set for Coachella 2008

The seminal Brit outfit will play its U.S. first gig in over ten years alongside the Breeders, MMJ, and Rilo Kiley among others, this April.

Though it appears My Bloody Valentine won’t be taking a vacation under the California sun, another equally pasty outfit from across the pond will: Portishead has been announced as one of the headliners for the Coachella Music and Arts Festival, slated to hit the hot desert plains of Indio, CA’s Empire Polo Field April 25-27. For the band, which has logged its reformation and progress towards a new record via a blog, the Coachella gig will be its first in the U.S. in over ten years.

Also, according to Billboard.com, it appears The Los Angeles Times’ speculation is true: the Breeders, My Morning Jacket, and the Verve will also top the bill. But there’s more: the Raconteurs, Jack Johnson, and Spin cover subjects Rilo Kiley will also show for the festival. More details and performing acts are expected to be announced in the near future.

Now enjoy the music, just be prepared for the possible earthquake.
