Madonna, Cohen Inducted Into Rock Hall; Flight of the Conchords’ Debut Due in April

Madonna, John Mellencamp, Leonard Cohen, the Ventures, and the Dave Clark Five have all been announced as the 2008 Rock and Roll Hall of Fameinductees, beating out the Beastie Boys, Donna Summer, Chic, and AfrikaBambaataa. 2008 was the first year both Madge and the Beastiessurpassed the 25-year mark, thus qualifying for induction; the MaterialGirl released her debut single “Everybody” in 1982, the same year theNew York rabble-rousers’ debut EP Pollywog Stew dropped. Better luck next time Mike D, Ad-Rock, and MCA!

The inductees will be honored with a ceremony at New York’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel March 10.

Flight of the Conchords’ Debut Due in April

While you anxiously await their second season on HBO, Flight of the Conchords, a.k.a. hilarious guitar-toting Kiwis Jemaine Clement (JAH-mahhne!) and Bret McKenzie, have announced the release of their debut full-length album, EW.com reports. The yet-to-be titled effort, the follow up to debut EP The Distant Future,which nabbed a Grammy nod for Best Comedy Album, will arrive April 22via Sub Pop and was recorded in Los Angeles alongside producer MickeyPetralia (Beck, Peaches). A spokesperson was unavailable for comment atpress time.

Six Organs of Admittance Plot 2008 ‘Ash’ Tour

Running on all pistons behind the release of Shelter From the Ash, his third Drag City release under the Six Organs of Admittance moniker, Ben Chasny(Comets on Fire, Badgerlore, August Born, Plague League) has announceda 29-date outing set to kick off in Los Angeles Jan. 10. From there,Six Organs of Admittance will hit cities like Dallas, New York,Nashville, and Seattle before concluding in Chasny’s hometown of SanFrancisco Feb. 23.
