Kate Nash Pens Children Book, Shatters Innocence; Foo Fighters Add Dates

Channeling her diverse inner creativity, and apparent motherly soul, Brit songbird Kate Nashfeatured in the November issue of Spin — has strayed from the guitarand found a new outlet — children’s books! But while many a nostalgicmemories recite stories of wooded forests, fairies, and talkinganimals, Nash’s tales employ slightly different characters, notably aseven-foot transvestite named Roy.

“I’d like to release a collection of short stories,” Nash, who cites Roald Dahl (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach) as an influence, told NME.com.”I’m writing one a bout a 12-year-old boy called George, who meets aseven-foot cross-dresser called Roy. It’s a concept about imaginationand being whatever your dream is.” Nash adds: “There’s a lot of thingsI want to achieve creatively… I just like chucking things out andthinking, ‘whatever.’ I’m not scared of falling flat on my face.”

Foo Fighters Add More Dates

Yet again, Foo Fighterscovers boys of Spin‘s November issue — continue to flesh out their 2008 tour in support of Echos, Silence, Patience and Grace, now adding an assortment of gigs, including a stop at Los Angeles’ Forum March 5. But before that, frontman Dave Grohl and crew will hit embark on their previously announced U.S. outing, which now includes stops in Reno, Oakland, Glendale, AZ, and San Diego.

Tilly and the Wall Map Winter/Spring Outing

After a merry Christmas and a happy New Year, joyous indie popsters and SPIN.com bedfellows Tilly and the Wallwill stray from their Omaha, NE digs and hit the road on a 12-dateouting set to slide into major cities across America. Over roughly onemonth, this Conor Oberst-championed quartet will hit cities like LosAngeles, Portland, New York, Philadelphia, and Chicago.

Brooklyn unite! A pairing as eclectic as the New York City borough itself, across-the-East River residents MGMT and Yeasayer will team for a tour in 2008, set to kick off Jan. 16 in Washington, DC. Supporting their debut albums, All Hour Cymbals and Oracular Spectacular,Yeasayer and MGMT, respectively, will hit cities like Atlanta, Dallas,Los Angeles, Seattle, Denver, and Chicago before wrapping Feb. 15 inPhiladelphia.
