Fiery Furnaces Continue Touring in 2008; Sharon Jones Plots More Gigs

Lookie what we have here; Chicago-based brother/sister duo Matthew and Eleanor Friedberger, a.k.a. the Fiery Furnaces, are again demonstrating their superior stamina by plotting an extensive string of dates in 2008 behind the release of Widow City.Having been on the road most of the year flaunting their acclaimed newset, the Friedbergers and crew will emerge from the tinsel, mistletoe,and other holiday fixings Jan. 17 for a show in Hoboken, NJ beforeperusing the East Coast with stops in Portland, Buffalo, Baltimore, andWashington, DC. Sharon Jones Plots More Gigs

New York-based chanteuse Sharon Jones has extended her outing in support of her 2007 LP, 100 Days, 100 Nightswell into 2008 with a spattering of gigs through January. Fans canexpect to dance away their holiday-accumulated calories away with Jonesand the notoriously explosive, sought-after backing band the Dap-Kings in cities like Washington, DC, Atlanta, Austin, and Nashville.

Kula Shaker Return with ‘Strangefolk’

Possibly fueled by the rampant reincarnations of other decisive rock outfits, Kula Shaker‘s original members — frontman Crispian Mills, bassist Alonza Bevan, and drummer Paul Winter–Hart — have emerged from six years of relative obscurity for Strangefolk,the band’s third album to date due stateside Feb. 19 via Cooking Vinyl.The forthcoming effort, the proper follow up to 1999’s Pigs, Peasants & Astronauts, was produced hand-in-hand with Sam Williams (Supergrass) and Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters, Pixies), will deliver 13 songs, and will also featuring new organ player Harry Broadbent.

Bravery Map ‘Sun and the Moon’ Outing

Get ready, set, go! Not one to be left out, New York City-based synth-rock purveyors the Braverywill join the hordes of musicians plotting a return to the roadfollowing the holiday season, with a 25-date outing set to kick offJan. 16 in Boulder, CO. Supporting the release of The Sun and the Moon,the band’s sophomore set out now, the winter tour will then roll intoSalt Lake City, Seattle, and Las Vegas before making its way east,delivering the downtown quintet to Dallas, Detroit, and Cleveland enroute.
