Destroyer Brings ‘Trouble in Dreams’; Von Bondies Tour in ’08

Taking a little personal time from his other projects, the New Pornographers and Swan Lake, Canadian songsmith Dan Bejar has returned to his solo project Destroyer to release Trouble in Dreams, the latest release in his already lengthy catalogue, arriving in the U.S. March 18 via Merge. As the follow up to 2006’s Destroyer’s Rubies,the new album, Bejar’s and friends’ eighth to date, will feature usualcollaborators Ted Bois, Nicolas Bragg, Tim Loewen, and Fisher Rose.

Von Bondies Tour in ’08

Jack White’s personal punching bag, Jason Stollsteimer, frontman of garage-pop outfit the Von Bondies, will take his newly reformed band on the road in 2008 in support of Love, Hate, and Then There’s You, the follow up to 2004’s Pawn Shop Heart, Punknews.org reports.The Motor City-based quintet will kick of their outing in Ann ArborJan. 9, then head east, dropping into Chicago, Columbus and Pittsburgh.After a pair of shows north-of-the-border, the Von Bondies will returnto the U.S. and hit cities such as Burlington, Boston, New York, andPhiladelphia.

Cracker, Camper Van Beethoven Close Out ’07 with Gigs

The holiday season can be a busy one, with all the shopping and stuffing of faces and all, but for alt-rocker David Lowery, this December will be, well, twice as demanding as he hits the road with both his bands, Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker.Beginning Dec. 27 in San Francisco, the two outfits will embark on afive-day outing, as Lowery pulls double duty essentially opening forhimself each night. Cracker, supporting their last release, 2006’s Greenland,and Camper Van Beethoven, reforming to rock through old favorites, willthen hit Petaluma, CA, Solana Beach, CA, and Portland, OR.

And if you haven’t sated your jones for Lowery’s tunes, the busy bee rocker and Cracker co-founder Johnny Hickman will return to the studio for a forthcoming Cracker album, due at a yet-to-be announced date in 2008.

Valient Thorr to Return to Studio, Tours

Grizzly thrash rockers Valient Thorr, whose frontman Valient Himself contributed to SPIN.com’s tour blog, will return to the studio in early 2008 to record the follow up to 2006’s Legend of the World.Relocating from hometown Chapel Hill, NC to SoCal in January to writeand demo new material, the quintet will then head to Seattle inFebruary to record the new album with Jack Endino (Nirvana,Soundgarden, Mudhoney) at Studio Litho and Soundhouse Recordings. Theforthcoming yet-to-be titled album will tentatively drop in summer 2008.

“Man,we’re psyched to begin working with Jack on the new album,” ValientHimself said in a statement. “Not only because of his discography, butafter meeting him out on the Volcom Tour, I realized he was just as bigof a record obsessive as I was… the dude knows his shit back to front.This record is going to be over the top.”

Catch Valient Thorr live this holiday season as the band’s tour alongside the Sword and Black Cobrapushes forward tonight in Washington, DC. The three rocking outfitswill then hit cities like Philadelphia, Buffalo, Chicago, andMinneapolis before Christmas.
