The Glass

Who? Dominique Keegan (vocals/guitars) and Glen Brady (programming/vocals), notorious for their 12″ vinyl releases, have been making hits in the NYC club circuit for the last few years. But they are by no means new to the club banger scene. Both have been working as DJs since the ’90s; Keegan at his own Plant Music label parties in New York and Brady, a DMC champion, with his accomplished production credits with artists such as INXS and R.E.M. The duo’s debut release, the Couples Therapy EP, is out this week via Plant Music.

What’s the Deal? Think Justice, LCD Soundsystem, and !!! with just the right amount of oh-so-tired, understated vocals in all the worthy places. Couples Therapy starts out with “Mad at You,” a boisterous orgy of New Order-like rhythms and dramatic vocals with such a manic guitar lick, it could set any dance floor on fire. “Come Alive” is a trippy hipster drawl that could make for an indie-electro dance anthem, while the floating, hazy guitar melodies and freewheeling vocals of “Try Some More” make for a 7 A.M. after-party dance jam. “4 Bytes” is a more conservative with its soaring synths and just enough wah-wah drone aesthetic to make this band a believable contestant as something more than just another new dance act.

Fun Fact: The Glass has gigging cred for reals! They’ve shared the stage with the likes of Bravery, the Go! Team, CSS, Kaiser Chiefs, and the Pipettes.
