It’s a Deathly Game for Bang Lime

Working 9 to 5 is rough enough without having to do it in a bear suit. And yet Oakland, California rock outfit Bang Lime brave photocopiers and brown-bagged lunches to dish some sexy, sexy pop by way of their new video for single “The Death of Death.” Directed by Helen Park, this three-minute snippet is a simple enough day in the life styled-video with one exception — you’re living life dressed like a grizzly. As Joules Scott-Key (drums) and Joshua Winstead (vocals/guitar) encounter disgruntled co-workers and fight traffic in their station wagons, the tension builds until all they can do is run wild, shaking their furry fists in fury on the streets of a (presumed) New York. The tune follows suite, with growling electrics and a challenging chorus that asks “Oh do you wanna meet / On a nice street / For coffee and a cigarette / I’ll be your dead friend.” It’s an effort that all comes down to one word: Grr! Bang Lime’s studio debut release, Best Friends in Love, dropped this week via the Last Gang imprint. CHANDLER LEVACK
