Tour Update: Smashing Pumpkins
The recently reunited alt-rock heroes map first full-fledged North American outing behind new album.
In support of the July 10 release of Zeitgeist, the first record from frontman Billy Corgan and co. in over seven years, the Smashing Pumpkins have mapped an extensive North American tour, set to deliver the band’s newest members and fresh tunes to fans across the nation and beyond. Smashing Pumpkins, currently banging out a residency in Asheville, NC, will kick off their 27-date outing in Montreal Sept. 9. From there, the band will hit Toronto, then jump stateside and hit assorted western outposts such as Las Vegas, Phoenix, and San Diego. Next, the socio-political minds of Smashing Pumpkins will head east, stopping through Denver, St. Paul, Detroit, and Pittsburgh. Two-night stands in Boston and Philadelphia will follow, and the band will wrap the jaunt in Nashville’s renowned Ryman Theater Nov. 5.
An announcement regarding the Pumpkins’ seven yet-to-be slated tour dates is expected in coming weeks. Tickets for all performances can be purchased via ticketmaster.com beginning July 14, but fans who pre-order the band’s forthcoming album Zeitgeist on iTunes will be supplied with a password granting access to a pre-sale currently underway.
While you await the album’s release and tour, you can sate your Pumpkins jones with Spin’s July issue: Attached to each newsstand copy is a Smashing Pumpkins Tribute CD, presented by Spin, MySpace, and Helio, with contributions from Panic!
