Pete Doherty may not be ready to quit dope, but the Babyshambles frontman has certainly fessed up to possessing a copious array of narcotics. Today in London’s West London Magistrates Court, Doherty pleaded guilty to possessing class A drugs as well as to numerous automobile infractions, stemming from an arrest May 5 in which heroin, crack cocaine, cannabis, and the tranquilizer ketamine were found in his possession. Arriving two and a half hours late to his court appearance, thus breaking a newfound British law, Doherty was issued an arrest warrant but arrived just minutes later, sating the judge’s irritation. As he entered the court, the rocker, who moonlights as model Kate Moss’ tousled man-cessorie, exposed to photographers that he was “feeling nervous” about his appearance. And with a track record like Doherty’s, one that includes scores of drug arrests and rehab stints, “nervous” is likely a reaction to his potential harsh ruling and return to jail. Doherty’s sentence will be handed down Aug. 7.
