The Cribs Sate Dance Floor ‘Need’

What do you get when you mix three brooding British brats with a flashy foreign fiasco of funk? Well, a convincing, highly enjoyable gem of a collaboration featuring two of today’s trendiest talents. The Cribs‘ sassy single “Men’s Needs” has received an additional shake of spice from dance floor dominators CSS, who lend their Brazilian backbeat to the Brits’ Alex Kapranos-produced breakout song. The remix preserves the single’s best features; the hooky Strokes-eqsue guitar riff, two-step tempo, and lead singer Ryan Jarman’s screeching vocals. Throw in CSS’ touch of ambient sonic swirls, double-time egg shake sha-shas, and unique vocal manipulation, and you’ve got a track that’s doubly dance floor-ready. The added echo to the song’s vocal outro of oohs recalls a fine time where Duran Duran may have dominated the discotheque, but now, while Jarman jests over what men really need in the song’s chorus, CSS’ “Men’s Needs” remix is guaranteed to unite us all in clubland. The Cribs’ latest studio effort, Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever is out now via Warner.
