Album Updates: Band of Horses, Devendra Banhart

Finally, after recently spilling his guts about Band of Horses’ sophomore Sub Pop album, band principal Ben Bridwell has given a name to his forthcoming collection of “southeast” and “country”-tinged tunes: Cease to Begin. According to Pitchfork, the follow up to 2006’s Everything All the Time, which was recorded in Seattle and Asheville, NC alongside producer Phil Ek (Built to Spill, Mudhoney, dios (malos)), is slated to drop to store shelves Oct. 9.

In related news, Madonna lovin’ and guilty pleasure indulgin’ troubadour Devendra Banhart has named his forthcoming fifth LP Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon, Pitchfork reports. The record, featuring collaborations from Noah Georgeson (Joanna Newsom), Andy Cabic (Vetiver), Otto Hauser (Vetiver), Greg Rogove (Priestbird), Pete Newsom (Joanna’s brother), and Rodrigo Amarante (Los Hermanos), is due Sept. 25 via XL.
