Tour Updates: LCD Soundsystem, Ben Kweller

Attention Philadelphia-based indie electronic fans! The genre’s contemporary king LCD Soundsystem, a.k.a. DFA producer James Murphy, has chosen to grace the City of Brotherly Love with an offering of his own: a free, live performance. Yes indeed, LCD Soundsystem will descend upon Philadelphia June 6 but in order to obtain the details (i.e.: time and place) you’ll need to log onto MySpace.com and add LCD Soundsystem and The List to your top friends. Next, message your name and email to The List along with the answer to this query: What does DFA (James Murphy’s Record label) stand for? If you answer correct, you’ll receive an email revealing the ticket pick up location for yourself plus one guest. Oh, elaborate, but so worth it. Choose wisely music scholars for the true answer brings you rock while the false takes it from you!

Now, onto Ben Kweller. In addition to covering the Smashing Pumpkins’ “Today” for the Spin/MySpace tribute CD, whisking SPIN.com off for a tour of his hood in Brooklyn (more to come!), and gearing up for a three night residency chronologically performing each of his albums, the ragamuffin Texan native has also mapped the remaining dates of his summer tour. Following his three shows in Brooklyn, Kweller hit the open road for a 15-date outing, kicking off with a meander down south, hitting cities like Atlanta, Orlando, and Birmingham as well as lesser known settlements like Ybor City, FL. Next, Kweller will head west, stop through Lone Star outposts like Houston and Denton and head north through America’s midsection. After a brief break, Kweller will return to Texas for a concluding gig Sept. 16 during the Austin City Limits festival.
