Bloc Party, Lily Allen Expose Debauchery Details

Surprise, surprise, apparently musicians have an appetite for intoxicating substances, who knew? Amongst the indulgent, albeit it lyrically in one case, is Brit pop-tart Lily Allen and Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke. Allen, who was forced to cancel dates of her U.S. earlier this year, citing exhaustion, has er, come clean, stating the motive was alcohol and her inability to control herself in its presence. According to NME.com via Time Out New York, Allen stated: “when you walk into your dressing room every night and there are 40 beers, it’s difficult not to drink them all, you know?” But Allen, admittedly boasting an “addictive personality,” has set a few goals: “I don’t want to be hanging over a toilet seat snorting coke when I’m 50.”

Okereke, speaking to Total:Spec magazine on drug referencing lyrics on new Bloc Party’s new album A Weekend in the City, divulged, “I just don’t think it’s a big deal,” further claiming the lyrics are an “honest” take on contemporary life. “I think in the 21st Century drug-taking is something that is synonymous with life, really. All I intended to do with the songs is to capture what modern life feels like… they’re not in there to glamorize anything, it’s just aimed at being honest. I’m not making a judgment about drugs; they are just there in the background.”
