We had forgotten how electric the Thursday night sets can be at Bonnaroo. With folks camped out for days waiting to get in, those first notes on Thursday night sound heavenly, and the Black Angels’ set in This Tent was no different. After unleashing their massive wall of sound on a rabid Bonnaroo audience — and a set-closing cover of the Stooges’ “I Wanna Be Your Dog” — the band’s Alex Maas, Christian Bland, and Nate Ryan met up with us backstage to talk about their opening night set and getting the party started at the ‘Roo.
