Malkmus, Decemberists Join Pollard’s ‘Football’ Team

Former Guided By Voices frontman Robert Pollard has work ethic. In addition to capping off three albums since early this year, he has teamed with Chris Slusarenko, also a former GBV constituent, under the Takeovers moniker for Bad Football, their sophomore album out June 12 via the Off imprint, Pitchfork reports. And the duo has gathered a pool of indie rock talent to boot; Stephen Malkmus, Mudhoney’s Dan Peters, the Decemberists’ John Moen, and Tad Doyle of former Seattle grunge outfit Tad join for Bad Football. Currently, mp3 downloads of album tracks such as “Father’s Favorite Temperature,” “Molly & Zack,” and “My Will” are available on the Off Records’ website. Those three, plus “I Can See My Dog” are all available via the Takeovers’ MySpace.com page.
