U.S. Air Guitar Seeks Champion

Practice your faux rock’n’roll hip-lock, behind-the-back shreds, and frenzied solos, and don’t forget to select your tailored rock god garbs, for the 5th Annual U.S. Air Guitar Championships are coming to town near you, in search of the ultimate rock star wanna-be to represent the U.S. The tour, hitting 14 cities nationwide, including metropolises like Boston, Chicago, and Los Angeles, will crown one winner from each match as well as three competitors via the Internet.

At a soon-to-be announced date, web savvy thin-air rockers can submit footage of fictitious axe plucking via usairguitar.com; both competitions will be judged on a combination of technical merit, stage presence, and “airness.” The 17 selected winners will then join with defending champ Hot Lixx Hulahan in New York City this Aug. and vie to represent the U.S. at the World Championships in Oulu, Finland this September to compete against air guitarists from countries around the world.
