Robert Smith Teams with Ashlee Simpson
Cure frontman lends seasoned skills for young pop tart's third album.
Ashlee Simpson, MTV poster girl and infamous SNL lip syncer, has tapped the Cure’s Robert Smith for her forthcoming yet-to-be titled album, EW.com reports. Smith is the latest to join an already impressive bill of musicians recruited to supply Simpson with their songwriting and production expertise as well as their musical cred: the Neptunes’ Chad Hugo, Timbaland, Keane’s Tim Rice-Oxley, and John Legend are all reported to be onboard. The new album, the follow up to 2005’s I Am Me, will hit stores before the end of the year, but the lingering query is if Smith will assist Simpson in channeling her inner drama with the press and deliver the emoting heartbreak single of the decade — we certainly hope so.
