Flaming Lips Ready First Live DVD

Seminal alt-rockers the Flaming Lips, renowned for their wacky onstage antics, elaborate props, and otherworldly tunes, have announced the July release of UFOs at the Zoo: The Legendary Concert in Oklahoma City, a live DVD recorded at the band’s hometown Zoo last September, Billboard.com reports. Featuring renditions of rare tunes such as “Love Your Brain” and “The Spark That Bled,” the DVD will also offer fans with an account of the Lips’ first-ever, and now infamous, onstage UFO light show. “I’m telling you, it’s like a local legend around here,” frontman Wayne Coyne told Billboard.com. “Everybody ended up bringing like five friends to this thing. It was the last awesome night of the summer…it was just a perfect night.”

Elsewhere, the Lips are turning Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots into a Broadway musical and inviting Spin staffers to dance with them onstage.
