Field Music Take Hiatus

Sunderland, England’s chamber pop trio Field Music — composed of brothers David and Peter Brewis and Andrew Moore — have announced via BBC Radio’s 6 Music that band will be taking a hiatus to work on other material outside “the sphere of indiedom.” The news comes at a productive point for the band, which recently wrapped a North American tour, and has outstanding concerts scheduled in the U.K. In addition, Field Music released She Can Do What She Wants, the latest single from the band’s sophomore album Tones of Town, just this week.

“We basically want to do things that aren’t classed as ‘Field Music indie band.’ It just makes us sick…we want to do something else. We want to still work with the people we like recording with and recording in the way that we do and make the music that we do,” the band told 6 Music. “We’re not going to be a band for a bit. But Field Music aren’t going to be over because we’ve already got a bank account under the name, so we’ll just continue of a company. It’s time to go and do some real work.” No details have yet emerged from the Field Music, er, “company” as to what moniker “real work” will be adopting.
