Apparently, there are a lot of people in bands with tremors: The Shaky Hands had to contact a band in New Zealand looking to adopt the moniker, and tell them they’d beat them to the punch (at least in this market). Though they’ve secured the name, it doesn’t seem to manifest in how the Portland, OR five-piece play on their solid self-titled debut album. Their catchy, sprawling indie rock seems confident and suffused with sunshine. “Maker Make” in particular takes a cue from Cat Stevens in his heyday with warm, inquisitive vocals coating bouncy drums and a friendly strum. The Shaky Hands’ full-length debut starts trembling April 10 on Holocene Music.
