It’s a rare occasion that ambient noise recalling that of Mogwai is hip-hopified a la Public Enemy. This rarity is what defines the Newark, NJ-based duo, Dalek, whose fourth album, Abandoned Language, dropped today via Ipecac. On that album’s “Stagnant Waters,” an electronic tornado of an intro morphs into a drowsy synth beat. Meanwhile, Dalek spits piercing rhymes examining the consequences of a corrupt government, encouraging unity through revolution. “Yo, I need my peoples,” Dalek calls. “We right here,” his posse responds.
