It’s official: the Smashing Pumpkins will make a long-awaited return to the stage this summer at two German festivals, according to a MySpace post spotted by our buddies at Stereogum. As the headlining act at Nuremberg, Germany’s brother-sister rock festival Rock am Ring and Rock im Park, held June 2-3, the Smashing Pumpkins will make their first appearance onstage since 2000. Although frontman Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin will definitely be returning, no announcements have been made regarding the involvement of the band’s other original members.
Tickets for the festivals will go on sale tomorrow (Jan. 27) and can be purchased at ticket-per-post.de.
