Velvet Underground’s Cale in Studio with Ambulance Ltd.

Ambulance Ltd. frontman Marcus Congleton and Velvet Underground multi-instrumentalist John Cale have been working together in an L.A. studio on Ambulance’s sophomore record, NME reports. With Congleton’s bandmates having departed to form the Red Romance (read more), Ambulance is basically Congleton by his lonesome; no permanent lineup has been announced. According to NME, Congleton has worked on upwards of 18 tracks with Cale providing production and keyboards, including one track called “Lady Fingers” that Congleton compared to Al Green and Sly Stone. The as-yet-untitled record should emerge for a summer 2007 release. Meanwhile, the Red Romance spent the fall opening for the Killers on East Coast dates.
