For some bands, getting in the holiday spirit is easily accomplished. Dirty Pretty Things were filmed recently by one fan leading their audience in rounds of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” and the Killers have just dropped the festive clip for “A Great Big Sled” (read more).
Bands like Arctic Monkeys, Panic! at the Disco, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, and Silverchair took their merry messages one step further, filming an ode to the holiday season for their fans. Foo’s Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins want to make sure “you get everything you need for Christmas,” including getting your stockings stuffed, if you know what they mean. Meanwhile, greetings from Panic! and Silverchair are more kid-friendly, and Coldplay want to welcome in 2007 with a dance party.
Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders, dressed as Santa, reflects on the past year, including winning the Mercury Prize, playing Reading Festival, and the low point of “dismembering a member.” And in his clip’s merriest moment, the drummer reminds fans to spend the holidays with “people you kinda like.”
