Building up a nice head of steam in advance of their new album, the Shins have announced four live dates in the U.S. next month. All shows are holiday radio festivals on the West Coast, but following the Jan. 23 release of the band’s third full-length on Sub Pop, Wincing the Night Away, you can expect to see them all over the place. Over the past few weeks, the leadoff single from Wincing, “Phantom Limb,” has been making the blog rounds to feverish praise and general relief that the band is still on top of its game. The shows next month will have the Shins mixing it up alongside such bands as My Chemical Romance, Gnarls Barkley, Modest Mouse, and the Raconteurs (tours do make strange bedfellows).

12/8, San Francisco, CA (Bill Graham Civic Auditorium)
12/9, La Jolla, CA (Rimic Arena UCSD)
