Brace yourselves. The unthinkable has happened. Britney Spears has filed for divorce from husband/back-up dancer/aspiring rapper Kevin Federline. The pop star filed legal papers in Los Angeles County Superior Court today, citing “irreconcilable differences” and asking for both legal and physical custody of the couple’s two children, one-year-old Sean Preston and two-month-old Jayden James, with K-Fed getting reasonable visitation rights, according to TMZ.com. Spears, who has hired lawyer-to-the-stars Laura Wasser (who has repped Angelina Jolie, Nick Lachey, and others) is waiving her right to spousal support and is asking that both she and Federline pay for their own attorney’s fees. Spears noted that the couple separated yesterday. Maybe that’s why the singer inexplicably appeared on David Letterman’s show last night to show off her newly svelte figure.
