Albums from Tenacious D, (+44) Crack Billboard’s Top Ten

While they couldn’t catch new albums from two of 2005’s hottest hip-hop stars, both Tenacious D and (+44) managed to land in the top ten of the Billboard 200 albums chart. Tenacious D — the comedic duo of Jack Black and Kyle Gass — landed at No. 8 with The Pick of Destiny, the soundtrack to their new film of the same name, which hit theaters today. The D’s 2001 self-titled disc has moved just under one million units. Meanwhile, the debut from (+44) — the new project featuring blink-182’s Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker — landed at No. 10 behind 66,000 copies sold, just about half the number reached by Angels & Airwaves, the band fronted by Mark and Travis’ estranged blink-182 bandmate Tom Delonge, during their first week in stores back in May.

Talk: Are (+44)’s numbers something to blink at?
