U2 in 3-D

Bono will reach out and virtually touch fans next year when U2 release their first 3-D concert film from the Vertigo world tour. The as-yet-untitled film, which will be out sometime in spring or fall 2007, will pull from more than 700 hours of footage shot during the South American leg of the Vertigo tour in Feb. and March 2006. The film, directed by former U2 collaborator (“One”) Mark Pellington, will be “the first-ever 3-D multicamera live shoot,” a rep for the band told Hollywood Reporter. The band may take part in the first live 3-D performance projected in theaters across the nation to coincide with the film’s release.
